Description
The crime of Aiding a Suicide may be charged against a person who deliberately aids, or advises, or encourages another to commit suicide. Although terminally-ill people have the right to die under California’s physician-assisted suicide law, family members and friends may still not help family members who are in terrible pain die on their own terms. Examples of Aiding a Suicide are driving to the drug store to purchase a lethal dose of medications at the request of another person or participating in a suicide pact with another person and surviving.
What does the prosecutor have to prove?
1. A person attempted or committed suicide.
2. Defendant deliberately aided or advised or encouraged the person to commit suicide.
